Introduced a new high-performing creative series
I've been a social media manager for Barstool Sports since November of 2024. I have learned a lot just from the first three months of working on this larger account. With a following of 28,000 people, it can feel intimidating, but I was excited to see how well my content and ideas would play out in front of a sizable audience. One of the main goals at Barstool is to post as much as you can while still posting funny, high-quality content. This has been an immense help in giving me real-world experience in making posts on an almost daily basis for a large audience.
At first, I tried to fit in and stick to what we were posting, making basic memes about college and our sports teams. After my first handful of posts, I wanted to do something more we hadn't done before. I began a new series called "Fake News Friday." In this series, I would create funny fake news stories to grab our audience's attention and encourage engagement. "Boomer Shot Dead in Springfield, MO" was the first post, and it was a hit! It was right around the time of the CEO incident, which was popular amongst students; it could not have been timed any better. Since I created the series, it has made up 5 of our top 15 posts in the last 3 months, with one of them being the most liked and viewed post since I joined.
Overall, working with Barstool Sports has been the perfect introduction to getting hands-on experience with Social Media Management. I have been able to maintain high-quality posts at a consistently high output for 3 months. I am excited to see how much more I can do with this company and how much more I will learn.
